Nurses know great workplaces for nurses
Nursegrid’s Great Workplaces for Nurses is based entirely on nurse feedback.
Nursegrid is the #1 rated and most adopted app for nurses. It is trusted by 650,000+ active nurse users to organize their nurse life and connect with their peers in real time. It’s more than an app—it's a buzzing hub where nurses connect and build career-long networks.
They also talk to us regularly. We have heard nurse perspectives on hiring, training, COVID, and even where the best work opportunities are. We knew a lot of that feedback could help other nurses, so we set out to amplify their recommended workplaces across the nation and celebrate those nurse-vetted hospitals and facilities as best we could.
That’s how Nursegrid’s Great Workplaces for Nurses was born.
The Great Workplaces for Nurses list is built from direct feedback collected from nurse users of Nursegrid about their current workplaces.
For the 2026 list, this included:
-50,000+ nurse survey responses
-Feedback spanning thousands of hospitals nationwide
-Responses from nurses actively working in those facilities
We did not accept hospital submissions or employer-provided data. Everything comes straight from nurses.
Our goal was to ask a simple, but powerful question: “Would you recommend your workplace to another nurse?”
Responses were collected using a five-point scale, which was the primary data used for the results. Some nurses also shared additional perspectives that shed light on their specific working environments and experiences (some of which are featured in the hospital listing). That data was highly valued but did not impact the rating or the qualification standards.
Hospitals were required to meet Nursegrid’s proprietary qualification standards before being considered. These standards include:
1. A minimum number of survey responses per facility
2. A minimum threshold of active Nursegrid users at that facility
3. Participation thresholds per facility ensured responses were representative of their facility.
All qualifying hospitals that met our data-density requirements were then reviewed by independent experts in data and statistical analysis and evaluated using statistical modeling to determine the highest-performing facilities within each metro area.
By applying participation thresholds and statistical relevance standards, we ensured that results reflect collective nurse sentiment versus isolated opinions, and large facilities were not skewed by small response counts (this let smaller facilities qualify if nurse engagement was strong).
There’s no single perfect hospital for everyone. That’s why the list is built to explore, not rank.
You can search by zip code or name, or you can filter by locations.
We urge all facilities mentioned to promote their inclusion in our list. You should be thrilled to have won the admiration of your nursing staff. In order to accompany your text-based promotion with our licensed badge, hospitals and facilities will need to purchase the rights to use our licensed content. You can learn more about promotion opportunities on our Winner’s Toolkit page.
Hospitals are included based on direct feedback from nurses who use Nursegrid and work shifts at that facility. To ensure results reflect collective nurse sentiment — not isolated opinions — hospitals must meet Nursegrid’s proprietary data-density standards before being considered. Those standards include a percentage threshold of active users at the facility responding to the survey.
Only hospitals meeting these qualification requirements were included in our regional statistical evaluation.
Essentially: Inclusion in our list means that the facility met all participation thresholds, had strong recommendations from survey participants, and were among the highest performing locations in their metro areas.
No. This is not a ranked list.
Hospitals are recognized based on meeting defined scoring thresholds.
The list is built from surveys sent directly to Nursegrid app users — working nurses who actively use the app and are connected to shifts at their facilities.
Nurses were asked a simple but powerful question: “Would you recommend your workplace to another nurse?” Responses were collected using a five-point scale and supplemented with optional qualitative feedback.
We did not accept hospital submissions, nominations, or employer-provided data. All results are derived from direct nurse feedback.
Not being listed does not necessarily mean a hospital performed poorly—it may mean there wasn’t enough data to score fairly. There are several possible reasons you may not see your hospital on our 2026 list:
-Insufficient nurse participation
-Survey engagement levels at the facility were below our qualification thresholds
-Other facilities in the metro area received higher recommendation scores from nurses.
Nursegrid’s Great Workplaces for Nurses list will be refreshed every year and shaped entirely by nurse feedback. Inclusion isn’t something hospitals apply for, but it is something your nurses can earn for you.
The best way to be considered in future lists is to support strong nurse engagement. Hospitals can encourage their nursing staff to use Nursegrid—which is free—to connect with coworkers, manage their nurse life (credentials, calendar, CE, etc.), and participate occasionally in nurse-perspective surveys.
The more nurses who share their experiences, the more accurately a hospital’s culture, support systems, and day-to-day realities are reflected.
Of course, the most meaningful work happens on the floor: investing in teamwork, leadership support, learning opportunities, and honest conversations about challenges all show up in how nurses rate their workplace.
If you have questions about the process, want to better understand how the list is built, or would like to learn how nurse participation works, you’re welcome to reach out to us greatworkplaces@nursegrid.com.
Yes. And you should! Hospitals recognized as Nursegrid’s Great Workplaces for Nurses should reference the recognition in recruiting and employer branding.
We encourage facilities to mention the acknowledgment in text across their channels. However, using the Nursegrid Great Workplaces for Nurses badge does require a licensing agreement. All usage guidelines and assets are shared with each winning facility once they secure the rights. You can learn more about purchasing the rights by emailing greatworkplaces@nursegrid.com.
A facility cannot pay to be placed on Nursegrid’s Great Workplaces for Nurses list. The list is built solely from nurse feedback. We do offer sponsorship and paid advertisement in other areas of the app.
